The Berlin public prosecutor’s office is investigating suspected illegal trade in prescription medicines in connection with an operation at Casa Kua on Naunynstraße in Kreuzberg. A spokesperson for the authority said the inquiry concerns that suspicion.

Police enforced a search warrant at the premises. Prescription medicines and narcotics, data carriers and cash in the four-digit range were secured, according to the official account.

Several thousand people joined a queer demonstration in Kreuzberg demanding protection of queer life. The prosecutor’s investigation was the background to the operation at Casa Kua.

Casa Kua works for better access to healthcare for transgender, intersex, non-binary and queer people. By its own account, the project regards the German health system as discriminatory and seeks to bring traditional and conventional treatments together.
